What’s the weirdest place….

….You’ve ever done a set of nails? Part 2

I did a set on my best friend sitting on the ground between two horse trailers at a rodeo. There's a big rodeo here in MI that we call "Cow Camp". It's usually a week long event for us (a sort of mini-vacation) and there's alot of down time during the day. So, we made good use of our time!  Patti S – Michigan, USA

Does glueing a broken nail and filing it down count??  On a boat in the middle of Loch Ness!  Eileene Finn – Mersey, UK

I don't know if this counts, but I'm a hairdresser as well. I once cut my friends hair in her ICU bed. She was completely bedridden for a long time and had a huge knot of hair in back. I had to climb into the bed with her and gave her a lovely haircut!  Carolyn – New York, USA

Here’s a brilliant advertising idea posted on the internet Nail Tech message board from Tyyon,

I made up a gift certificate redeemable for a free manicure or half off on an acrylic fill. I left the TO: and FROM: spaces empty so just in case a person got one who really did not get their nails done, they could give the gift certificate away to someone who did. I put the gift certificates (which I put together on my word processor) in a plain white envelope. On the outside of the envelope I put the words GIFT CERTIFICATE in large letters, and put them on cars parked in front of churches on Sunday mornings.  If you try this idea, put on your gift certificate in very small print "this is a coupon and not for retail sale". I had to do that because I found out that some people were trying to sale them. This worked very well for me, and I still do it from time to time. I was worried that people would only come for the discounted services, but most people did return to the salon, and are regulars now!

Tyyon advertised this way at her local Church. Select your advertising area to suit you, so for instance nightclub, slimming clubs, gyms etc.

Quick nail art tip 1

If your nail art theme is an indoor Christmas tree with glitter as tinsel, rhinestones as baubles etc, think about this to fill the bottom area of the nail….Rhinestone shapes which normally come in rectangle, square and triangle are excellent as presents under your nail art tree!!
