This
month’s Nail Tech is……….
Leanne Park
Salon
name: Leanne’s Nails, Ingateston, Essex
E Mail address: lpark@powertesting.demon.co.uk
What
made you decide on a career in nails and when did you start?
I
started my Nail Career in Feb 1998.
I have always been interested in art.
Once I had my nails done I realised what you can do on nails and went for
it. I
went on all the courses and now I have a Diploma in Nail Art and all
certificates for Nail Extensions, I enjoy seeing the end product it is really a
sense of achievement.
What
environment do you work in?
I have a
unit off a busy High street,
my small salon has Tranquil surroundings – soft colours with posters up
on the walls, etc.57
What
services do you offer and which systems do you use? I
offer nail extensions with gel or fibreglass wraps, manicure, freehand nail art
and airbrushing.
How
many clients do you see per week?
Are you full or part time? I
do nails outside my 9-5 job, I have 15 clients at the moment.
What
part of your job do you enjoy the most and why? I
really, really, really enjoy airbrushing, especially wild and jazzy designs as I
like to see the end result.
How
do you advertise?
I a
flyer showing some of my work and prices, I also advertise in shop fronts,
posters in car windows and in local gyms and hairdressers.
What
is your most popular nail art request and which is your favourite piece of nail
art? The
most popular design is either French manicure design by airbrushing or I have a
light purple with criss cross white lines on it.
My favourite piece of nail art is definitely the New York skyline and the
galaxy, but other than those I would choose the Blue Ice (shown in last months
Nail Art Gallery).
What
is the weirdest request you have had for any nail service? I
have airbrushed a phone case, that was really the weirdest.
If
you could have your dream come true in the nail world what would it be and why?
My dream would be to give up my 9-5 job so I could open my own large salon
and have a successful business, employing staff.
Tip to pass on to other nail techs? If you have naturally long nails and like to keep them in nice condition then soak then in warm olive oil.

NAILS ONLY
MAGAZINES
Although
more and more beauty and hair magazines are featuring nails within their pages
there are still very few nails only publications. Listed below are the main magazines that are easily
available, (though not through newsagents).
The comments are my personal opinion, of course you may have different
views. If you are already a
subscriber to any of these magazines why not write a review and let us all know
what you think.
